John Bevan – Chairman of The Historical Diving Society (UK)
It is with sadness that we hear that John Bevan, who for many years has contributed to diving safety and also been a veteran of diving history, has died in suites of illness.
The collaboration between John Bevan and the Swedish Diving History Association, SDHF, extends
back to the early 1980s, when Hans Örnhagen, initiator of SDHF, and John first met during an offshore project in Norway.
John provided invaluable support to SDHF in the process of saving Dyktankhuset in Stockholm and many are the SDHF members who have participated in events organized by The
Historical Diving Society. This is very much thanks to John’s dedicated work on keeping in touch and exchanging information. We miss John but are convinced that his spirit will continue to inspire people interested in diving and diving history for a long time to come. You can read more about John at
Divernet.
